About Hendrik Cornelus Schmidt

Adv Schmidt was born in Klerksdorp. Upon completing his secondary education, Mr Schmidt studied law. He completed a B.Luris and an LLB degree from UNISA, an LLM from RAU and an MPhil. Mr Schmidt has extensive experience in the South African justice system having worked as a public prosecutor, state Advocate and senior state Advocate. Adv Schmidt started his political career working as councilor in 1999 and was first elected to Parliament in 1999. He was appointed as the DA’s spokesperson for Minerals and Energy from 2004 to 2009. Hendrik is currently appointed as the Shadow Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources for the DA. Source: DA (http://www.da.org.za).
