A well-positioned public broadcaster is an information and digital economy; it is key for our new democracy, and will forever remain relevant. Our former and late President Dr Nelson Mandela was ahead of his time in recognising the need for enabling communication platforms as a means to foster social cohesion and economic development, when he addressed the 7th World Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition in Geneva in 1995.
