Speaker, Minister, our people are ready to vote ANC on 8 May. However, there is criticism on the quality and state of radio and television and on journalism, and the South African National Editors' Forum, Sanef, has equally expressed concern about this. What, in your opinion, are the reasons for this and how is the SABC addressing this factor?
The MINISTER OF COMMUNICATIONS, TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND
POSTAL SERVICES: We appreciate the fact that you have noticed that your people want to vote ANC on 8 May. However, to respond specifically to the question that you are asking, we are working, not only with Sanef but also with other broadcasters. We want to ensure that all journalists adhere to the ethics of journalism, in order to protect the quality of the services that they are rendering. Most importantly, we want to make sure that they appreciate their freedom of speech, but they have to be protected when they are doing their work. That is why it is important that they always make sure that they are on the right side of the law, as they undertake to deliver their services. Thank you.
