Hon Speaker, may I first respond to the member of the DA who is complaining about transforming our municipalities? We are not going to be apologetic about real transformation of our institutions, which is meaningful to our people. [Interjections.]
What he didn't mention is that in the Sisonke District Municipality, it is only under the ANC government that the rural people are starting to see development. Water is being supplied in Mzimkhulu; the Department of Water Affairs has built a big reservoir and the people of Mzimkhulu can see those things. [Applause.] Proper schools are being built and for the first time that district will no longer have mud schools. [Interjections.]
Secondly, to the hon member of Cope, in relation to the Police Service, I fully agree with hon Ramatlakane that we can't, just because of a few incidents within the Police Service, start painting every member of the Police Service with the same brush. The majority of our men and women in blue continue to serve us well as South Africans. They continue to serve us under sometimes very difficult and dangerous conditions and they do deserve our support all the time.
Lastly, to the member of the ACDP, I fully agree that we should be concerned about mothers killing their own children, but we can't blame this thing solely on the choice of termination of pregnancy. Ironically, the ACDP has always been opposed to the choice of termination of pregnancy. I think, as members and leaders of society, we should really look deep into the social ills of our communities, including this growing trend of Satanism. That is what we expect from the hon members; that these role models, who publicly display Satanism, should be discouraged, thereby saving our children. I thank you. [Applause.]
