Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) notes with sadness the death of former Bafana Bafana striker Keryn Jordan on Monday, 21 October 2013, at the age of 37;
2) further notes that both the New Zealand and South African football communities are mourning the death of this prolific striker who has lost his battle with cancer;
3) remembers that Jordan won the inaugural South African National Premier League title with Durban club Manning Rangers in 1997 and won the Golden Boot for the league's top scorer in 1998 and was also top scorer that same season in the African Champions League;
4) further remembers that when he relocated to New Zealand in 2004, Jordan scored 76 goals in 100 national league games for Waitakere United and Auckland City;
5) recalls that he played in two Fifa World Cup finals tournaments, won two Oceania Champions League titles, three National League crowns and was a two-time winner of the Golden Boot for New Zealand's top goal scorer;
6) acknowledges that when he returned to South Africa late last year for cancer treatment, his teenage son, Liam, remained in New Zealand to continue his legacy and is regarded as a bright football prospect; and
7) conveys its deepest condolences to the Jordan family, relatives and friends.
Agreed to.
