Speaker, with the recent renaming of the Sisonke District Municipality, it is once again abundantly clear that the ANC is unable to move from an organisation of liberation to one of governance. Millions of rand have been spent on nothing more than a political campaign to rename Sisonke District to Harry Gwala District, while the vast majority in the district have no access to water or sanitation. In Mzimkhulu, 94% of the community have no access to water - a direct violation of their constitutional rights.
In Horseshoe, Kokstad, residents are subjected to Ventilated Improved Pit, VIP, toilets. These aren't very important toilets and up to four homes share one of these toilets. In Shayamoya, Kokstad, residents have the luxury of water-bound sewerage that flows through their homes and through their streets. [Time expired.]
