Chairperson, I move, with leave:
That the House -
1) notes the resolution of the House to refer the Protection of State Information Bill, the Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on Protection of State Information Bill thereon, and the President's reservations on the constitutionality of the Bill, to the committee which originally considered it;
2) further notes that the Ad Hoc Committee on the Protection of State Information Bill was the committee which originally considered the Bill and the President's reservations on the constitutionality of the Bill and that the committee has, in terms of the Rules, ceased to exist after it completed its task and reported on the Bill and the President's reservations on 15 October 2013;
3) re-establishes the Ad Hoc Committee on Protection of State Information Bill with the same composition, membership, chairperson and powers as its predecessor (Minutes of Proceedings, 12 September 2013, p 3459);
4) instructs the committee to further consider its report on the Bill;
5) further instructs the committee to incorporate in its work the proceedings and all the work of the previous committee up to and including 15 October 2013; and
6) sets the deadline by which the committee must report at 7 November 2013.
Agreed to.
Mr Chairperson, could we perhaps ask for the consideration, with reference to the Rules, to ask the committee to come back and to comply with Rule 251(3), that means to include minority views in the report? Thank you.
Chair, it is not an amendment. It is a referral. The hon member knows why we are referring these Bills back to the committees. She knows. She is not amending. Let the House agree to this and go ahead and do the work.
We support that, Chairperson.
Thank you, hon member. Sometimes you make us nervous here.
