Hon Speaker, I move without notice:
That the House -
1) congratulates Ms Thapelo Chiloane, a Member of this Parliament, who has been appointed as president of the Commonwealth Women's Parliament at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference last month;
2) believes that her appointment proves the quality and ability of women, produced by South Africa and the continent, who are getting appointed to a range of international organisations;
3) acknowledges that among her first duties was to preside over the election of the chairperson of the Commonwealth Women's Parliament, where another African, Ms Rebecca Kadaga from Uganda, was appointed; 4) further acknowledges that her appointment has brought honour, not only to South Africa, but to the continent as a whole; and
5) congratulates Ms Chiloane on her appointment and assures her of Parliament's continued support.
Agreed to.
