Chairperson, all South Africans were deeply saddened by the recent passing of the much loved and greatly respected SABC journalist and TV presenter Mr Vuyo Mbuli. South Africans were unanimous in their outpouring of grief, condolences and praise for the newscaster, who passed away after suffering a pulmonary embolism. He was an astute interviewer and, even when asking tough questions, always remained respectful and thoughtful.
He was a familiar sight on our television screens early in the morning, always snappily dressed and with a smile on his face, which was comforting and brightened our mornings. He was fair, objective and thorough in his engagement with people from all walks of life and nobody can dispute his love for this country and his patriotism. Incisive, sharp and intelligent, he appreciated our diversity and was impartial in his observations. He was also humble and treated everyone who crossed his path with respect.
He loved music and loved to dance, as we witnessed on his show. He loved the many languages and dialects spoken by our people. He was a true South African and will be greatly missed. We as the ANC convey our deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Mitirho ya vulavula. [Actions speak louder than words.] Yitha there!
