: Mr J Van Wyk (ANC)

SUMMARY
The Chair announced in-house arrangements and introduced the Committee Annual Report and Study Tour reports for adoption. The programme for the first quarter 2004 could not be finalised because dates and venues needed confirmation.

MINUTES
Study Tour Report
Mr Van Wyk said this Report was the end product of the same Report discussed by the Committee on 11 November 2003. Suggested changes had been effected but further comment was welcomed.

There were no further comments and Mr A Nel (DA) moved that the Report to be adopted. Mr S Simmons seconded the proposal. There were no objections and the Report was unanimously adopted.

Committee Minutes for 2003
Mr Van Wyk said the minutes of 22 meetings had been presented for adoption and he questioned having to adopt the minutes in that manner.

Mr D Maimane (ANC) suggested the contents of the minutes was a true reflection of events and the corrections were only of a technical nature.

Mr M Sibiya (IFP) moved that the minutes be adopted subject to the corrections. Mr Maimane seconded the proposal. There were no objections and the minutes were unanimously adopted.

Annual Report 2003

The Chairperson reported that the Chairpersons Committee had approved the adoption of 2003 minutes in early 2004. He suggested they do this at the first meeting of 2004 because their Annual Report still required some editorial amendments.

Mr D Mabuza (ANC) seconded the suggestion and the Committee approved the move.

Programme for first quarter 2004

Members were given the opportunity to comment on the proposed programme for the first quarter. The programme was still subject to change but would be confirmed shortly.

The meeting was adjourned.
