Meeting Summary
The Committee held its first meeting of the sixth term of Parliament to elect its Chairperson.
Upon following due process, the Committee Secretary declared Ms N Ntobongwana (ANC) as the duly elected Chairperson.
The Committee would receive a briefing from the Department on its 2019/20 budget and annual performance plan later in the day.
Meeting report
The Committee Secretary welcomed everyone to the Committee’s first meeting of the sixth term of Parliament. She stated she would preside over the election of chairperson as per parliamentary rules. She called for nominations for the position of Chairperson from Members.
An ANC Member nominated Ms N Ntobongwana (ANC) for the position.
The Committee majority seconded the nomination.
Ms Ntobongwana accepted the nomination.
Ms Ntobongwana was duly elected the Committee Chairperson.
The incoming Chairperson appreciated being afforded the opportunity to serve in the capacity of Chairperson. The Committee should endeavour to discharge its duties to the best of its abilities going forward. She announced the Committee would receive a briefing from the Department on its 2019/20 budget and annual performance plans later in the day. She thanked everyone for their attendance.
