Meeting Summary

The Portfolio Committee on Police met to consider and adopt the budget reports and annual performance plans presented by the South African Police Service, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, and the Civilian Secretariat of Police. The Committee voted to adopt the reports, pending implementation of grammatical corrections.
 

Meeting report

Chairman F Beukman (ANC) began the meeting with a section-by-section read-through of the Draft Report of the Portfolio Committee on Police on Budget Vote 25: Police (2014/15). The report provides an overview of the 2013/14 Budget Hearings of the Department of Police and Civilian Secretariat for Police, and is divided into two parts, the first consisting of the 2014/15 SAPS Budget hearings and the second consisting of the 2013/14 Civilian Secretariat for Police Budget hearings.

The Committee did not have any major objections or changes to the Report. Minor grammatical changes were discussed.

The Committee voted to adopt the Report.

Mr Beukman then moved on to a discussion of the Draft Report of the Portfolio Committee on Police on the 2014/15 Budget Allocation (Vote 23), Strategic and Annual Performance Plan of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, Dated 11 July 2014.  The report comprises an analysis of its key programmes and a summary of key aspects of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate budget allocation and strategic objectives, as well as the Committee observations and recommendations.

The Committee did not have any major objections or changes to the Report. Minor grammatical changes were discussed.

Mr Z Mbhele (DA) moved that the Report be adopted.

Ms M Molebatsi (ANC) seconded the adoption.

The Committee voted to adopt the Report.

Mr Beukman thanked the Committee for its time and participation in the meetings.
