Tabled Committee Reports

The Committee convened on a virtual platform to adopt the budget report of the Department of Public Enterprises and Communication, which was presented to the Committee on 19 May. It also adopted two sets of minutes from previous meetings.

Meeting report

Ms T Modise (ANC, North West) acted as Chairperson in the absence of Mr Mkiva, who later joined the platform and chaired the meeting.

The Chairperson asked the secretary, Ms Amanda Zindlali, to present the apologies. Apologies were presented for Mr I Ntsube (ANC, Free State) and Ms T Mamorobela (ANC, Limpopo).

The Chairperson said that on 19 May, the Committee had met with the Department of Public Enterprises, which had presented its strategy and annual performance plan (APP) for this financial year. However, the report had not been formally adopted.

The Chairperson asked for a Member to propose the adoption of the report.

Ms L Bebee (ANC, KwaZulu-Natal) moved the adoption, and was seconded by Ms W Ngwenya (ANC, Gauteng).

Ms Ngwenya commented that the report was in line with National Council of Provinces (NCOP) rules, and would assist Members in the budget vote and policy debate of the Department on 24 May.

Ms Ngwenya made a correction to the report in chapter 7, paragraph 7.2. The correct name of the Department was supposed to be the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition. The word "Competition" had been omitted, and Ms Ngwenya asked for the report to be amended accordingly.

The Chairperson asked Ms Zindlali to amend the report as per Ms Ngwenya’s recommendation.

Committee minutes

The Chairperson asked for the presentation of the two sets of minutes, which were both adopted.

The meeting was adjourned.
