Meeting Summary

Hansard NCOP 28 July 2020
Hansard NCOP 16 July 2020

The Committee was meant to scrutinise the Executive undertaking made by the Minister of Small Business Development however the meeting clashed with the tabling of the budget in the National Assembly and the Minister was unable to attend. The engagement would be arranged for another date.

The Committee adopted outstanding minutes and its reports on the Kat-Kop petition and Executive undertaking of the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in July 2020.

Meeting report

The Chairperson commenced the meeting by welcoming a new Committee Member, Mr X Ngwezi (IFP, KZN) who has joined the Committee to replace the late Mr S Mfayela (IFP, KZN).

In the last meeting that was scheduled, the Committee could not sit because of certain challenges such as the unavailability of the Minister and the quorum. The Committee was supposed to look at the undertaking of the Department of Small Business Development but could not hence this meeting was called. Unfortunately, the meeting clashes with the budget speech and the Minister was deployed in the Presidency therefore undertakings made by the Minister of Small Business Development will not be scrutinised today. Only the Committee reports and Committee minutes will be considered.
