Meeting Summary

The Committee met for consideration and adoption of the following reports: Report on Taxation Laws Amendment Bill; Report on Tax Administration Laws and Amendments Bill; and the Report on Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill.

The three reports were adopted by the Committee. The DA reserved its position on the Report on Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill.

The consideration and adoption of the Committee Legacy Report together with Committee Activities for 2018 was deferred to early next year before the fifth term of Parliament comes to an end.

Meeting report

The Chairperson welcomed everyone to the last Committee meeting for the year. He indicated that the reports to be considered had been circulated to Members prior.

Consideration and adoption of Report on Taxation Laws Amendment Bill
The Chairperson highlighted the contents of the report and put it up for adoption.

The Report on Taxation Laws Amendment Bill was adopted unanimously. 

Consideration and adoption of Report on Tax Administration Laws and Amendments Bill
The Chairperson highlighted the contents of the report and put it up for adoption.

The Report on Tax Administration Laws and Amendments Bill was unanimously adopted.

Consideration and adoption of Report on Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill
The Chairperson put the report up for adoption.

The Report on Rates and Monetary Amounts and Amendment of Revenue Laws Bill was adopted.

The DA reserved its position on the report.

Tabling of the Committee Activities for 2018, and Committee Legacy Report
The Chairperson said consideration and adoption of the Committee Legacy Report together with Committee Activities for 2018 would be deferred to early next year before the fifth term of Parliament comes to an end.

The Chairperson, in closing, thanked the Committee staff for their commitment in assisting Members in the work they do. Good governance, accountability and a hands-on approach was the Committee’s objective. He wished everyone well.
