Tabled Committee Reports

In a virtual meeting, the Committee met to adopt its report which disapproves of the section 139 (1) (B) intervention into the Metsimaholo Local Municipality (MLM) and that the intervention be terminated with immediate effect – the report was considered at a Committee meeting last week where Members voiced their concern regarding the procedure of tabling the notice of intervention.

Meeting report

Report of the Select Committee on Co-Operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Water, Sanitation and Human Settlements on Re-Tabling of the Notice of Intervention Issued in terms Of Section 139(1)(B) of the Constitution (1996), In Metsimaholo Local Municipality

Having considered the Committee report last week, the Committee reached the decision not to support the section 139 (1) (B) intervention into the Metsimaholo Local Municipality (MLM) and that the intervention be terminated with immediate effect. The Select Committee is of the view that the current situation in the local municipality does not warrant section 139 (1) (b) of the Constitution.

The report was adopted with unanimous support from all parties.

Meeting adjourned.
