Meeting report

The meeting was briefly delayed as there was no quorum.  

The Chairperson welcomed everyone present in the meeting and acknowledged that Members had a lot of work to do in their constituencies. She thanked Members for making time for the Caucus and congratulated Tanzania’s new President, Samia Suluhu Hassan – “as women, we hope that she will get the support she needs”. The Chairperson noted that the Queen of the Zulu nation will be the interim leader. She hoped the women would receive the support they deserved. She said it was the year of Charlotte Maxeke as dedicated by the ANC government to celebrate the liberation struggle. She believed the year should not pass by without women making a change. She wished to see the women of the Multiparty Caucus change things that were not correct.

Apologies were heard from 12 Members.

Committee minutes dated 25 February 2021

The Chairperson asked if there was anything that needed to be corrected with the minutes of the meeting.

Ms N Maseko-Jele (ANC) said she was not present at the meeting.

The minutes were adopted.

The Chairperson thanked Members and asked if anyone wanted to discuss any matters relating to women and the celebration of women.

The Chairperson wished Members well.

The meeting was adjourned.
