About Lynne Brown

Lynne Brown resigned on 1 March 2017. She previously served as the Minister of Public Enterprises. Ms Brown has a Teaching qualification - she obtained a Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education from the University of the Western Cape and did post-apartheid studies abroad. She has a certificate in Gender Development Planning Methodology from University College in London. Ms Brown was a founding member of the United Women's Organisation formed in 1979. She started the Women's College in the early 1990's for women in governance and she became a member of the Mitchell's Plain Youth Congress and a member of the United Democratic Front. She served as the Premier of the Western Cape Province from July 2008 until May 2009. Prior to her appointment as a premier, she was MEC for Finance and Tourism in the Western Cape. Source: (gov.za)
